Make your signature background transparent

Your image is processed in this browser and is not uploaded.

JPG, PNG or WebP · Up to 18 MB, 8 megapixels and 8192 px per side

Start with dark black or blue writing on plain, light paper.

Extraction settings

Lower values remove more pale paper but can fade light strokes. Higher values retain more faint ink and paper. Process again after changing settings.

Works best with dark writing on a plain light background. Shadows, colored paper and faint pencil marks may need a cleaner scan. Check thin strokes before downloading.

Separate dark ink from light paper

The tool removes light pixels while keeping darker handwriting in place. It works with black ink and dark blue pen marks, including narrow lines that a general subject cutout may overlook. A soft transition reduces the pale fringe around the remaining strokes. The tool changes transparency and edge color; it does not invent missing letters or redraw your handwriting. Check the preview whenever a loop, dot or thin connecting line matters.

Control the paper threshold

Use the brightness threshold to balance paper removal against faint ink. Lower values remove more light material but can fade delicate marks. Higher values retain more faint strokes and may also retain paper texture. Reprocess after an adjustment and compare both previews. A flat, evenly lit scan gives you a more useful starting point than a photograph with creases, heavy shadows or patterned paper.

Save a cropped transparent PNG locally

Keep the original canvas size or trim empty borders with a 12-pixel margin where the source allows it. The PNG retains transparency so you can place the signature image over a slide, a letter layout or a design without a white rectangle. File reading, processing and export all happen in your browser. JPG, PNG and WebP inputs are supported up to 18 MB, 8 megapixels and 8192 pixels per side.

How to remove a signature background

1

Choose a clear signature image

Use your own handwritten signature on plain white or light paper. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP scan or photo. Crop away unrelated text first with the Image Cropper if your source is a whole page.

2

Adjust and inspect the result

Remove the background, then check small dots and connecting lines against the checkerboard. Change the threshold if paper remains or light strokes disappear, and process again. Enable border trimming if you need a compact image.

3

Download your PNG

Download the transparent PNG and place it in your document or design editor. Keep PNG when transparency is required; converting to JPG adds an opaque background. Inspect the image again at its intended display size.

A signature image for everyday layouts

Letters and presentation slides

Place your handwritten sign-off on a letter layout or a closing slide. Trimming the unused paper makes alignment easier without changing the spacing between the strokes.

Personal artwork and stationery

Reuse your handwritten name on a print layout, invitation or digital artwork. The transparent asset can sit on a colored design, although pale strokes should be checked on that final background.
